Replenish Electrolytes with Coconut Water

What is coconut water?
Coconut water is the natural juice found inside a young (green) coconut. It is a murky-clear water with a slightly tangy and nutty flavor. Coconut water is different from coconut milk, which is made by boiling coconut water and shredded coconut together until foamy, then straining.  It it much lighter and does not contain any of the fat present in coconut milk, as it does not incorporate any of the meat of the coconut. It is the purest liquid other than water itself and is almost identical chemically to blood plasma; in fact, coconut water was used in World War II for blood transfusions for soldiers!   In addition to electrolytes, coconut water contains calcium, magnesium, and more potassium than a banana!

Coconut water beverages - whether plain or mixed with some sort of fruit juice -  have become very popular at yoga and fitness studios for students looking to replenish lost electrolytes after a workout session.  These naturally isotonic drinks are a great, all-natural replacement for sugary athletic beverages.  Because of its hydrating properties, coconut water makes a nice, refreshing afternoon snack in the summer and is excellent for hydrating from the inside out in the winter months.
What are the best brands on the market?

There are a number of coconut water brands and beverages on the market.  I've tried them all, and my favorites are:

1.  VitaCoco (my favorites are the Peach+Mango and the Pineapple)
2.  Iso 5 Coconut in Pineapple or Fruit Punch (Great Gatoraid/Propel alternative made with just coconut water and 100% fruit juice)

3. Naked Plain Coconut Water

I do not recommend ONE, as they add sugar (totally unnecessary) to their drinks.  Also, I tried their Pomagranate Acai blend one time and almost threw up.  It's thick.  And dark.  And tastes like rotten prune juice.  Gross.
